Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has joined Jordan's King Abdullah II in rejecting the expulsion of Palestinians into his country.
"What is happening now in Gaza is an attempt to force civilian residents to take refugee and migrate to Egypt, which should not be accepted," Sisi said.
"Egypt rejects any attempt to resolve the Palestinian issue by military means or through the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land, which would come at the expense of the countries of the region." The Egyptian leader added.
According to Reuters, Sisi made the comments on Wednesday morning, as US President Joe Biden arrived in Israel for a solidarity visit.
Both Jordan and Egypt are concerned Israel will permanently expel Palestinians from Gaza into their countries, in what would echo the Nakba (catastrophe) of 1948.
During the Nakba, more than 700,000 Palestinians were expelled by Zionist militias to make way for the establishment of Israel. They and their descendants were never allowed back and most now live as refugees in neighbouring Arab states.
