As civilians deaths mount, locals of Douma demand rebels to leave

(Zaman Al Wasl) – Douma, the rebel-held city northeast Damascus, have witnessed on Monday the first protest against rebels, urging them to leave the embattled city to avoid more killing of civilians by regime troops who claimed striking rebel bastions.

According to Zaman al-Wasl reporter, protesters demanded all rebel factions to leave Douma in response to the last massacre committed by Bashar al-Assad’s troops days ago, where 123 people have been killed under pretext of hitting rebels’ strongholds.

Also, local activists have expressed concern as rifts escalate dramatically between Islam Army and al-Ummah Army, over killing senior commander in al-Ummah by unknown group last week.

In relevant development, Zahran Alloush, the commander Islam Army and United Military Command of Eastern Ghouta suburbs, said Bashir al-Ajwa, spokesman and senior commander of ‘Osoud al-Ghouta’ brigade has been killed on Sunday by an armed group in his home town of Douma.

Meanwhile, at least 191,000 people have been killed in Syria's conflict; more than double the figure documented a year ago and probably still an under-estimate, according to the United Nations.
