(Zaman Al Wasl)- The former head of the Military Council in Sweida city south Syria, talked to Zaman al-Wasl about the recent situation of Syrian revolution, especially after the international alliance against the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) and the new orientation toward moderation and the willingness of USA to support the moderate opposition. The defected Col. hopes that transition to be in favour of Syrian people and leads to overthrowing Syrian regime and other terrorist groups.
Col. Marwan al-Hamad considers that the Free Syrian Army “FSA” and other groups under its leadership would be able to fill the place in liberated areas in case the regime and other extremist groups were defeated.
He commented on concentration on moderation recently saying: “moderate battalions were in field since the beginning of the armed struggle of the Syrian revolution, but they did not receive enough support to prove their effectiveness. Those battalions are the real representatives to Syrian people and their hope of dignity and freedom. Syrian people are moderate in general, love peace and hate unfairness”
In regard to the possibility that Druze could join other fighting groups in light of recent changes, al-Hamad said that Druze have always been part of Syrian people and they would be honoured to fight side by side with other battalions.
He revealed that communication with other battalions has not discontinued and he would give everything to help revolution.
He admitted that he does not know anything about the structure of the Military Council of Sweida after his resignation on 23rd of Nov 2013.
In regard to the possibility to communicate and cooperate with Nusra front, he revealed that Druze do not have any hostility with any faction fighting Assad’s regime, but in the same time they have some reservation toward any party or battalion fights other rebels and abducts people.
About his relationship with captain Kais al-katana, the Leader of al-Omari Brigades, he said that it was a revolutionary bond aimed to overthrow Assad’s regime. He denied rumours that al-Katana stopped arms supplies to Sweida’s fighters, because it was not his responsibility to arm them. “A testimony for history, Abo Islam sheltered Sweida’s fighters who withdrew after Dahr al-Jabal battle in his bases, and who does so, cannot implicate fighters in losing battles”, his reply to a query about Abo Islam’s role in implicating Soltan Basha al-Atrash battalion in Dahr al-jabal battle.
