Uncovering "crisis children" file in orphanages concerning detainees children

Zaman al-Wasl learned that the competent authorities in the Syrian government took over the management of the Lahn al-Hayat orphanage complex in the Qudsaya area and the "Al-Rahma" orphanage after the newspaper published details about the presence of children of detainees in the complex, as well as the forced recruitment of orphans to join the military service in the regime's army during previous periods; and changing their names and records in civil departments.

The orphanage administration confirmed that all files related to the orphanage are now under the supervision and care of the Syrian state, noting that all documents related to the complex have not been hidden or destroyed, but are now in official hands.

In another development, an informed source revealed the existence of a file called "Children of the Crisis" - which was kept by official authorities - which was under the direct supervision of the former director of the orphanage, Hanadi al-Khaymi.

It includes sensitive information related to children who were transferred to orphanages after the arrest or execution of their family members by the former regime, which may reveal important details and answer many questions about that period.

The source also reported that the orphanage included children of Russian nationality, who were handed over to the Russian embassy before the fall of the regime; Which raises questions about how the home deals with foreign children.

Regarding the administrative changes, the source indicated that one of the administrators, Lama Sawaf, suddenly traveled to Egypt, which sparked controversy about the real reasons behind her travel.

For her part, the principal Nada Al-Ghabra denied in a phone call with "Zaman Al-Wasl" the news that spoke of her arrest, confirming that she is still at work.

This information opens the door to more questions about how the "Lahn Al-Hayat" complex was managed in previous periods, and sheds light on the recent administrative changes and the extent of their impact on the care provided to the children residing in the complex.
