An informed source reported that Fotouh Qudsiyeh, the daughter of Assad-era general Abdul Fattah Qudsiyeh, is still working at the Syrian Embassy in Muscat, Oman, where she serves as an advisor. She is known for her fierce loyalty to the ousted Bashar al-Assad.
According to the source, she succeeded in smuggling a number of her family members out of Syria after the fall of the regime, noting that he met some of them personally.
Major General Abdul Fattah Qudsiyeh is one of the most prominent intelligence figures under Bashar al-Assad, having served as head of the Military Intelligence Directorate and then as deputy director of the National Security Bureau. His name has been linked to cases of detention, torture, and enforced disappearance.
In a related development, the source revealed that the official responsible for passport renewals at the same embassy is Basil Hamoudeh, son of Major General Fouad Hamoudeh.
The latter served as deputy commander of the Special Forces and commanded military operations in Idlib governorate in 2012. He is known for his role in the storming of Jisr al-Shughur in June of that year, before being subsequently retired.
The source explained, "I personally renewed the passport of a family member through him."
It's worth noting that Syrian embassies around the world are still filled with loyalists of the former regime, including intelligence officers working under the guise of "cultural attaché."
