45 Years of Absence: Na'san Agha in the Memory of the Missing

The photo above shows Mohammad Hassan Na'san Agha, born in Idlib in 1954. He was arrested by members of the State Security Branch in Idlib on May 26, 1980, amid a violent security campaign targeting thousands of Syrians at that time.

The branch was then under the command of Brigadier General Nabhan Sabahi, one of the most prominent officials responsible for the campaigns of repression and arbitrary arrests in Idlib governorate.

Since his arrest, Na'san Agha has been completely cut off, and his family has been unable to learn any information about his fate. His name remains a witness to one of the longest-running crimes of enforced disappearance in modern Syrian history.
