252 Palestinian children died in Syria during war years.

The Action Group for Palestinians of Syria reported that 252 Palestinian children have died in Syria, coinciding with Palestinian Children's Day. The deaths were a result of multiple factors, most notably bombing, violence, and medical neglect.

The monitoring and documentation team of the rights group revealed that 129 children died as a result of bombing by the former Syrian regime, while 15 children were killed by sniper fire, 11 by gunfire at a wedding, and 34 children died due to suffering and lack of healthcare. 12 children died from various causes, including burns, suffocation, being run over, kidnapping, and then being registered. One child died in mysterious circumstances.

The AGPS indicated that two children died under torture in the prisons of the deposed regime, according to their families' testimonies. Their bodies were not returned or medical evidence of their deaths was provided.

According to the UK-based group, the actual number of victims is higher than reported, due to the difficulty of documentation given the security grip exercised by the Syrian regime. This comes despite the former regime's ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1990 and its recognition protocols.

Below the Poverty Line

The number of Palestinian refugees in Syria currently stands at approximately 463,000. According to UNRWA estimates, more than 91% of them live below the poverty line (less than $2 per person per day), and 40% of them remain in a state of protracted displacement as a result of the conflict and the destruction of their homes.

The Action Group for Palestinians of Syria is a human rights and media organization specializing in monitoring the conditions of Palestinian refugees in Syria, documenting all the repercussions of the Syrian war on them and the deterioration of their humanitarian, legal, and living conditions as a result of the Syrian crisis from 2011 to the present.

The AGPS documents all Palestinian refugee victims in Syria, regardless of their political positions or the party responsible for their deaths.
