Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa chaired the new government's first meeting on Monday since its formation on March 29, replacing the caretaker government.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that the meeting was held to discuss the government's priorities for the next phase.
The new government includes 23 ministers, including five ministers from the transitional government formed on December 10, 2024, to manage the country's affairs following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime.
In a related development, al-Sharaa announced the appointment of Abdul Qader al-Husriya as the new governor of the Central Bank of Syria. This appointment comes weeks after Maysa Sabreen submitted her resignation from the position to make way for the appointment of a new governor.
Al-Husriya was sworn in by Ahmed al-Sharaa on Monday, officially assuming his duties.
