The second batch of Kurdish fighters affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) left the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods in Aleppo on Wednesday, heading east of the Euphrates River, under the supervision of the General Security Forces.
Approximately 500 Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) fighters left the two areas as part of the second phase of the agreement concluded last week. General Security forces were directly involved in supervising the exit process and ensuring it proceeds in accordance with the agreed-upon understandings.
This development comes within the framework of a recent agreement concluded between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). This agreement stipulates the reorganization of the situation in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo. This includes the withdrawal of military forces to the east of the Euphrates River, the transfer of security duties to the Ministry of Interior, while preserving the privacy of the two neighborhoods, ensuring freedom of movement, and organizing administrative and service work in coordination with state institutions.
