Several agreements and memorandum of understanding were signed on Thursday as the Syrian-Saudi Investment Forum kicked off in Damascus.
In the presence of Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, an exchange of agreements between Saudi and Syrian entities from the public and private sectors took place, covering various fields such as telecommunications, cybersecurity and aviation.
A senior Saudi delegation led by Saudi Investment Minister Khalid al-Falih arrived in Damascus on Wednesday to take participate in the forum, which was launched under the direction of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as part of efforts to help Syria rebuild.
Speaking at the opening of the forum, al-Falih said that 47 agreements and memoranda of understanding with Syria will be signed worth more than $6 billion. He added that Saudi Telecommunications Company (stc Group) will be among the Saudi companies that will sign agreements with Syria for technological development.
Al-Falih also underscored that the delegation’s visit to Damascus reflects Saudi Arabia’s support for Syria while announcing that the Saudi-Syrian Business Council will be established under the directives of MBS.
