ISIS to turn expatriates' homes in Bukamal into headquarters, residence

(Zaman Al Wasl)- People of al-Bukamal town on the border with Iraq said fighters of the Islamic Sate of Iraq and Sham have confiscated properties of Syrian expatriates who work in Gulf Arab states in respond to the participation of Gulf fighter jets in US-led airstrikes.

People of the tribal town, which affiliated to Deir Ezzor province, have suffered a cruel treatment by ISIS. Some are looking for an escape by U.S. airstrikes, activists say.

ISIS is planning to turn the houses and palaces of rich expatriates into headquarters and residence for its jihadists.

Source said ISIS has already formed a committee to count the empty houses.

In relevant context, Gulf States have banned its citizens who originally from al-Bukamal to leave Gulf, amid concerns they will join ISIS.

The Islamic State's campaign of extreme violence and abuses against both civilians and rival opposition groups has prompted a backlash across rebel-held Syria, where many hope the US air campaign next door will be extended, according to AFP.

Since joining the conflict in Syrian in spring 2013, IS has seized control of almost all of Raqa and Deir Ezzor provinces where it has waged a devastating offensive since June.
