In a controversial step, the accreditation of the general manager of the Syrian Gas Company, Amin Dagri, was revealed before his escape, the WhatsApp application as a way to document technical expertise reports related to the biological gas line path last March.
These reports, which are an essential part of the completion of the expropriation procedures, were approved through personal chats between Dagri and the assistant director of the Petroleum Management.
This issue raises several questions about the standards of transparency and credibility in dealing with sensitive files related to vital projects such as gas lines, which are one of the main pillars in the Syrian economy. It is unacceptable that important decisions be documented through social media applications, which lack transparency and legal reliability.

According to the sources, one of the reports exchanged via WhatsApp relates to amending the path of the biological gas line in a specific area, where an arc was proposed with a distance of 150 meters, which requires complex legal approvals and procedures, which cannot be conducted through informal talks. Experts indicate that the procedures for expropriation in gas projects must be carried out through approved official channels, which include reliable technical reports and official documentation from all parties concerned, in addition to the approvals of government agencies.
This situation raises questions about the extent of adherence to legal and administrative standards, and the absence of control over the decisions of senior management in the Ministry of Energy and its affiliated companies. Many experts confirm that WhatsApp should not be a substitute for official records or approved legal signatures.
In light of these data, the most important question remains: How can it be trusted in fateful measures taken by government officials through unsafe and informal platforms? And who bears the responsibility of these decisions that are not legally approved?
