Interior Ministry prohibits any discriminatory measures among embassy security forces

Zaman al-Wasl obtained a copy of a circular issued by the Protection and Diplomatic Security Department of the Syrian Ministry of Interior, which includes a strict emphasis on prohibiting all forms of discrimination among employees of the Embassy and International Organization Protection Branch.

The circular, signed by the head of the Embassy and International Organization Protection Branch, Tariq Ahmad Nassar, dated September 8, was addressed to department heads, supervisors, inspectors, and relevant personnel.

This raises numerous questions about several issues. A quick review of the situation reveals a distinction between the security personnel who were present before the outbreak of the revolution and the General Security personnel who were brought in from the north.

This issue has become so clear that it has reached the highest levels, necessitating the issuance of a binding circular bearing a number, date, and signature, giving it legal force.

The question is: If the circular is not adhered to, what deterrent is there for those who do not comply? Why are police officers and security personnel treated as if they are accomplices in the crime committed by Bashar al-Assad?

We cannot be well unless we are on the same page as citizens. This is what is happening in the Ministry of Interior, which is the epitome of commitment and professional discipline. Let us imagine the reality in other ministries.

The circular stipulates the following:

- Prohibiting any form of discrimination between employees, whether they are "hostile to the work, veteran cadres, or new recruits."

- The prohibition includes discrimination in treatment, behavior, speech, gestures, or speaking ill of a colleague in front of others.

The circular stated that any violation of these instructions is considered a "deliberate failure of work" and will be met with "the most severe disciplinary penalties, including permanent dismissal."

Nassar also emphasized that the only discrimination the administration recognizes is the principle of "adopting and devoting all employees to the work," while ensuring its success, continuity, and development. This circular comes within the framework of a comprehensive restructuring process for the Syrian Ministry of Interior that began recently.
