Aleppo Response received 142,000 displaced people: SANA

The Aleppo Central Response Committee began implementing a comprehensive emergency plan from the very first hours of the displacement of civilians to ensure their safe passage from the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods and several surrounding areas, guaranteeing their safety and mitigating potential risks.

In a statement released today, the committee said it has received approximately 142,000 displaced people so far, including 13,000 today alone by 1:00 PM. Eighty vehicles have been deployed, and 12 temporary shelters have been opened: ten within Aleppo city and two in the Azaz and Afrin regions. The influx of displaced people continues as of the time of this statement.

The committee explained that during the evacuation operations, the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) shelled the areas surrounding the humanitarian corridors and civilian neighborhoods in central Aleppo with a number of shells, in flagrant violation of international laws and conventions. This resulted in 10 deaths and 88 injuries.

The committee worked to organize and facilitate the smooth and safe evacuation of civilians, ensuring freedom of movement and choice of destination for each citizen. It also provided first aid and medical care at shelters through ambulance and emergency teams deployed around crossings and assembly points, and transferred critical and urgent cases to public and private hospitals after ensuring their full readiness.

The committee noted that it is receiving calls from patients trapped inside the two neighborhoods, who are currently inaccessible due to security risks and the repeated targeting of medical teams. It affirmed that it is working in coordination with relevant authorities to secure their safe evacuation as soon as possible.

The Aleppo Central Response Committee called for adherence to the issued instructions and for communication with the relevant and authorized authorities via the number 0930335391 to contribute to ensuring public safety and effective management of the emergency response.
