Syrian-Egyptian Forum kicks off to discuss trade and investment cooperation

The Syrian-Egyptian Economic Forum, organized by the Chambers of Commerce of both countries, kicked off today at the Seven Gates Hotel in Damascus.

The forum, which includes the participation of officials, economic institutions, and business leaders from both countries, aims to strengthen trade and investment cooperation and establish joint ventures.

Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al-Shaar emphasized that Syrian-Egyptian economic cooperation is a natural complementarity, given their similarities in production and consumption patterns, the nature of their human resources, and the pivotal role played by industry, agriculture, and services in both countries.

Minister al-Shaar added that strengthening economic cooperation between Damascus and Cairo is not limited to the exchange of goods, but rather is based on establishing joint projects and leveraging the similarity in consumption patterns and market preferences, thus increasing the chances of success and sustainability.

The head of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, Alaa al-Ali, noted that the meeting is a strategic step towards reconstruction and development on all levels, adding that joint cooperation represents a pillar of economic strength for both Syria and Egypt in the coming phase.

The head of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, Ahmed El-Wakil, indicated that strengthening economic relations with Syria is an urgent necessity through an effective partnership between the private sector in the two countries.
