Syria’s first synthetic fur factory opens in Damascus

Damascus, Aug. 4 (SANA) The United Fur Company factory opened on Tuesday in Adra Industrial City as the first facility in Syria specializing in the production of synthetic fur, under a Syrian-Chinese partnership.

The inauguration was attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Basel Abdul Hanan and Damascus Countryside Governor Amer al-Sheikh.

The factory has an annual production capacity of approximately 10 million meters and features integrated production lines equipped with the latest global technologies.

Expansion plans include the local manufacturing of yarns and fabrics, strengthening reliance on domestic production and reducing the need to import raw materials.

Adra Industrial City, located in the Damascus countryside, is one of Syria’s key industrial zones. The opening of the factory marks a significant step in developing Syria’s textile and manufacturing sectors, expanding domestic production capacity and reducing import dependency.

The investment reflects growing economic cooperation between Syria and China, with Beijing positioning itself as a key partner in Syria’s industrial recovery by supporting projects that introduce advanced technology and strengthen local production capabilities.
