(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime forces on Thursday have taken full control strategic town in the northern countryside of Hama province after weeks of heavy ground attack, monitoring groups said.
Basher al-Assad’s forces backed by Lebanese Hezbollah movement and National Defence took full control of Morek town after weeks of violent clashes with al-Qaeda Syria’s wing Nusra Front and other Islamic factions, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
Pro-regime activists lauded the ‘bravery’ of Colonel Suhail al-Hassan, Assad’s sincere man and Hama Operations Commander for the recapture of stubborn town.
The last few weeks witnessed heavy offensive regime’s armed and air forces, more that 95 airstrikes hit Morek and Kafr Zeita towns in 72 hours, according to activists.
Clashes in Hama Front have sparked after long calm between Assad's forces and rebels in the historic province which had witnessed bloody clashes and memorable protests at the beginning of Syrian uprising in 2011.
Meanwhile, more than 191,000 people killed and over 10 million forced to flee their homes.
