(Zaman Al Wasl)- A new round of heavy clashes broke again to control the strategic gas field, east Homs province between the Syrian regime armed forces and the fighters of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, leaving 30 army troops killed, activists and monitoring groups reported on Wednesday.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Islamic State militants in Syria
killed at least 30 pro-government fighters in an assault on Sha'ar gas field that
has witnessed some of the bloodiest confrontations between the two sides.
Islamic State seized the Sha'ar gas field in July, killing some 350 government troops, allied militiamen, guards and staff, according to the Observatory.
Meanwhile, Zaman al-Wasl sources said hospitals of government-held Homs had received tens of wounded.
