Iraq's Abadi is another Maliki: sources

(Zaman Al Wasl)- After 3 months of his designation as Iraq’s Prime Minister shows no changes or difference from Nouri al-Maliki, the ex-Prime Minister, especially in his relationship with Iran.

Iraqi Shiite sources reported to Zaman al-Wasl that Dr. Haidar al-Abadi, the Iraqi Prime Minister still follows his precedent Nori al-Maliki’s way in managing the government.

The sources added that al-Abadi has been hesitant in his decisions and attempts for changing, and confirmed that Iran still has its influence on Iraqi government and decision.

Moreover, sources revealed that the Prime Minister still taking consideration for the Islamic Dawa Party led by al-Maliki.

The sources expressed their worries from the distance between Iraq and Arab Countries, and feel that Iraq could have radical changes and find solutions for sectarian conflicts if Arab Countries broke Iraq’s isolation, as wide proportion of Iraqi want to get rid of Iranian control.

On the other hand, Salim al-Jabouri, the speaker of Iraqi Parliament, leads political initiatives for national reconciliation, where he started with Iraqi Kurdistan and had many meeting in Erbil.

Haida al-Abadi was designated as Prime Minister by President Fuad Masum on 11 August 2014 to succeed Nouri al-Maliki, and was approved by the Iraqi parliament on 8 September 2014.
