Egyptian security detains 44 Syrians since coup 30 June

Syrian Center for documenting Violation has appealed against the Egyptian security forces to release more than 40 Syrians detainees.

Syrians' conditions in Egypt, either refugees or residents are going through serious developments as many of them were harassed and the harassment reached to the extent of arbitrary detention, without any specific charge, which happened two days ago at” Al-Salam checkpoint” in Cairo.

At that checkpoint, members of the Egyptian army arrested 44 Syrians as they thought they were going to Rabaa Al-Adayewa Square to participate in the protest there.

They were taken to the police station in Al-Qubba region; one detainee managed to contact his family and told them about the place of detention.

It is reported that all the 44 detainees were put in a small room and were threatened of deportation to Syria although no charge was given to them.

The Violation Documentation Centre in Syria appealed to the UN High Commissioner for refugees in Egypt to take its responsibilities and intervene to release the detainees. The Centre also called to Egyptian human rights organizations to assist in the release of them, in the same time taking into account the enormous efforts made by Egyptians to help Syrians at this difficult time.
