Damascus: water partially returns after rebel threats to detonate Barada spring

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Opposition agreed to partially re-open water supply to Damascus, until the regime agrees on their demands.

Water supply came back to Damascus after three days of complete cut-off, which was as a reply for the heavy shelling by the Syrian regime on towns of Wadi Barada, which supplies Damascus with Water.

A statement issued by the opposition’s battalions in Wadi barada, declared that they gave regime a notice till Wednesday to implement their demands or they would explode Ain al-Fijah that considered the main source for water in Damascus.

The opposition demanded breaking the siege against towns of Wadi Barada and release detained women, besides withdrawing regime’s forces to behind Ashrafiyat al-Wadi, beside stop bombing the area.

The statement added that opposition’s battalions agreed on Tuesday to partially open water supplies, after the regime sent an envoy to negotiate with the opposition and agreed to re-open water supply until the Regime implements all the opposition's demands.

These events came after the regime intensified shelling and bombing by air forces and mortars beside militias of the National defence forces, which tries to advance toward Basima village, adjacent to Ain al-Fijah, where people suffer from long siege.
