Opposition: Syrians abroad can renew passports with French help

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Since France has been responsible for printing Syrian passports, a new solution comes up by French authorities to help Syrians abroad with expired passports.

According to well-informed sources from the National Coalition, France supplied key opposition group with the same stickers regime has to extend passports' validity.

According to Zaman al-Wasl the cost of the 'renewal' would be $75 to be paid to a bank account specified for this service by the National Coalition, then the serial number of the receipt and the old passport would be sent to the Coalition to add the sticker.

The service would be available in 2015, this could help 4 Million Syrians cannot renew their passports because of their attitude toward the regime. “that solution is available for renewing only, not issuing new passports” the source confirmed.

Zaman al-Wasl closely follows the matter and would update Syrians of progress, besides the role of the Coalition’s Embassy in Doha.

This news which Zaman al-Wasl exclusively published, was met with different reactions, where millions of Syrians felt relieved and happy, many politicians rejected the step and did not approve it, and tried to hold and impede it.

Haitham Manna, the prominent opposition figure did not agreed with the idea of the renewal stickers, therefore, he sent a letter to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs to blame them for the process, claiming that could delay finding a political peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis, a source reported.

The Source added that Manna, in his letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affair had relied on Zaman al-Wasl’s press release, as he mentioned that date for starting the process would be in 2015, while the actual date is 25th of December 2014.

Haitham Manna has French Nationality and passport, he can move freely around the world, while other 4 million Syrians are stuck in countries abroad for not being able to renew their expired passports.
