Dozens reported killed in Assad air raids on al-Bab, Aleppo

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Syrian regime extended its intense aerial campaign against rebel-held areas of the northern city of Aleppo on Thursday, conducting a series of airstrikes that killed at least 20 people, activists said.

At least 7 air strikes have targeted al-Bab city and Qabbasin town in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, leaving more than 120 people killed and wounded.

Meanwhile, Key rebel groups of Aleppo province have merged in one military front on Wednesday, looking to close ranks to fight Syrian regime armed forces, Zaman al-Wasl reporter said.

“Al-Shamiya Front’ will be led by Abdul Aziz Salameh, the general commander of The Islamic Front

The newly-formed entity consisted of the Islamic Front, Al-Asala Front, Nour Ed-Din al-Zinki Movement, Mujahedin Army and ‘Fa Estakem Kma Amart’ Rally.

Gen. Zahr al-Saket, Commander of Aleppo Revolutionary Council, praised the birth of the new rebel group, saying this step will bring good outcomes for all rebels fighting in Aleppo.

The reporter said more mergers within rebel factions to be announced soon.

A rebel commander told Zaman al-Wasl that a unified command is the only solution to surpass all challenges.

"Conflict of interest is the weakness point of rebels where rebel areas turned to be cantons affiliate to this leader or that," source said.

Meanwhile, suffering of Aleppo’s people has been continuing in regard to their ordinary life, food, fuel and small business to keep surviving. “They went to streets last month, demanding rebel commanders to unite but no concrete response yet,” activists said.

More than 200,000 people have been killed in Syria since the revolution began in March 2011.
