(Zaman Al Wasl)- Three civilians were killed Thursday in raids of U.S.-led International Coalition on al-Shaddadi city south of Hasakah, and three others were killed by regime air strikes on Tal Barrak in the northeast of the city, activists said
Activist Malaz al-Yousef told Zaman al-Wasl that warplanes of the International Coalition have killed 3 civilians in al-Shaddadi town after targeting the Islamic State’s bases which holed inside civil buildings by more than 30 missiles.
The international coalition’s raids coincide with heavy fighting between ISIS and Bashar al-Assad’s forces backed by Shiite militias to control the strategic city.
The Assad regime took advantage of the U.S.-led coalition to roll back ISIS fighters from the southeast of Hasakah, observers say
Activists said 3 people had been killed and 5 wounded in Tal Hamdi village near Tal Hamees by Assad’s air strikes.
Assad’s forces have strengthened the ties with Kurdish armed militias like PYD and YPG in the fight against ISIS.
According to Reuters, the Kurdish militias have shown grit fighting Islamic State but its potency will likely diminish beyond the Kurdish areas.
A senior Western diplomat told Reuters that the significance of Islamic State's recent setbacks should not be exaggerated, but added: "There’s no doubt that the heady days of ISIS are over."
More than 220,000 people have been killed since the conflict in Syria erupted in March 2011.
