At least 75 Syrian regime fighters were killed on Tuesday in battles with rebels in Busra al-Sham town southern Syria, rebel commander said.
Activists said rebels took complete control of the western part of Busra al-Sham, 40 km east of Daraa, all the way down to the center of the ancient town.
Major. Isam al-Rayyes, Southern Front’s spokesman, told
Zaman al-Wasl that 75 fighters loyal to Bashar al-Assad have been killed on
Tuesday as the key rebel group aims to cleanse the town of pro-regime
militias.
Al-Rayyes has also accused Assad' ally and Iran-proxy Hezbollah of looting the heritage of the ancient town.
Rebels also have killed commander of 313 Brigade, Syrian army unit, Zaman reporter said.In retaliation, Syrian air force has conducted 8 air strikes on Busra al-Sham targeting the town with 2 barrel bombs, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
Most rebels of Daraa, who are fighting to topple Assad, belong to the Southern Front, which includes some 30,000 fighters from more than 55 mainstream opposition groups operating from the Jordanian border to the outskirts of Damascus and the Golan Heights.
Syria's conflict, now in its fifth year, has killed more
than 220,000 people and caused millions to flee.
