The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) confirmed that 3 Palestinian sisters died under torture by Syrian intelligence in Branch 235, known as Palestine branch.
The SHRC reported that Amal Saad Eddin (24 years), Ahlam Saad Eddin (21 years) and Hiam Saad Eddin (19 years) were arrested from their houses in the Palestinian camp in Lattakia in the beginning of 2013, two months later they were transferred to Palestine Branch for intelligence in Damascus.
In its statement, SHRC reported that family tried to know the fate of their daughters, but they were unsuccessful.
The statement mentioned that Military intelligence had handed the family the girls’ belongings and told them that they died and were buried somewhere unknown.
In a relevant content, a Palestinian female detainee reported after releasing her that dozens of Palestinians died under torture in the regime’s intelligence branches, especially Palestine branch.
The released detainee mentioned that 7 Palestinian girls died under torture during her detention period.
The committee condemned the regime’s atrocious crimes against prisoners, and considered them as crimes against humanity.
SHRC expressed its worries about the increasing numbers of Palestinians who died under torture which reached to 377, mentioning that number might be double that, as many cases of enforced disappearance were recorded.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights, in report issued last September, said at least 215,000 people were arrested by Syrian security since the revolution erupted in March 2011. (4,500 of them are women and 9,000 are less than 18).
The report said 2630 detainees were tortured to death, and 70,000 cases documented as enforced disappearance.
More than 220,000 people have been killed in Syria since the revolt against Bashar al-Assad began in March 2011, the United Nations says.
