PYD part of regional alliance, Assad pays salaries of Kurdish militants: politician

(Reporting by Mohamed Al Hussein; Translation by Yusra Ahmed)

Saeed Omer, Head of Erbil’s office of National Affairs for Kurdistan Democratic Party in Syria says that Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and its Syrian branch, the Democratic Union Party (PYD) are part of an alliance consists of Iran, Russia and Syrian regime.

Omar mentioned to Zaman al-Wasl that PYD’s leader prevented the Bishmarka Rojava from entering Syria fearing that they could be moved away by Bishmarka, as PYD have forced themselves to the scene of Syrian revolution by Syrian regime’s support.

Saeed Omar did not agree with Saleh Muslim’s attitude toward the Syrian revolution which declares that Kurds should stay away from the Syrian revolution as it has show no concerns about Kurds’ rights. “Does the Syrian constitution have any article concerns in Kurds’ rights”, Omar wonders.

Omar drew attention that Abdullah Ocalan, the leader of PKK was under the Syrian regime’s protection, at the time he announced his aim to liberate the four parts of Kurdistan. then he was supported by Iran and Assad’s regime which facilitate recruiting Syrian Kurds with the Party and sent them to a battle they do not know anything about its benefits for them.

Omar highlights the fact that an agreement between PYD and Syrian regime to protect the regime and suppress any side contradicts it, accordingly they suppressed demonstrations in Efrin, Qamishli and al-Malikiyeh, and arrested young men and activists, besides expelling many leaders to Iraq's Kurdistan. He mentioned that members of the Administration Autonomy Cantons receive their salaries and arms from Syrian regime.

The head of National Affairs explains that fears of Kurdish-Kurdish clashes is the main reason preventing the Bishmarka from entering Syria, “but in the end they would interfere to protect their areas but it needs patience”
In a relevant content, Ahmed Qassem, a Kurdish politician mentioned in an interview to WalatiNet that PYD has adopted an attitude opposing the Syrian revolution claiming it has not have any concern in Kurds’ rights and it has been led by Muslim Brotherhood.

The writer mentioned that Saleh Muslim had three months following the start of Syrian Revolution went to al-Malikiyeh and gave a strong speech mentioning that Kurds should not interfere in the Syrian uprising which helping external agendas and the Kurdish revolution has started long time since 12th March 2004. “He aimed to distance the Kurdish community from the Syrian revolution according to an agreement with Iranian security before entering Syria.”

“According to that agreement, hundreds of PYD’s fighters in Jabal Qandil were allowed to enter Syria to recruit them in controlling Kurdish areas in Northern Hasaka and Aleppo after the regime’s withdrawal. Moreover, many of the party’s members were armed by Syrian regime to control and observe areas in Northern Syria and prevent any troubles.

Qassem resembled People's Protection Units (YPG) to the Syrian National Defence Forces (NDF) as only those two forces are allowed to officially armed according to the agreement with the regime, therefore, PYD has no choice to agree of not on entering Bishmarka Rojava to Syria.

Qassem ends that two contradicting political tracks the Democratic union Party (PYD) follows, first: the one goes along with the international and regional agendas, but deeply in helps the regime, and the other is Saleh Muslim’s trend which does not go align with the first, although it seems difficult for the two tracks to meet, but possible radical changes in Muslim’s party’s attitude could change the situation.
