Regime mourns Army Major General killed in Aleppo

State-run media mourned Sunday senior commander in Syria regime army, saying he was killed "during his national duty," in Aleppo.

Activists say the deputy chairman of the security committee in Aleppo province, Major General Younes Ali Ibrahim, died of his wounds.

Early Sunday, another top army officer came under rebels' attack  when an explosive device was detonated by by Ahrar al-Sham Islamic movement near his car in al-Diwaniyah neighborhood of Damascus, killing him and 7 of his escorts.

Ahrar al-Sham said Brigadier General, Bassam Mehanna al-Ali, and 7 of his soldiers were killed Sunday morning by an explosive device targeted their cars.
Al-Ali was one of the army masterminds who drew plans and tactics of regime forces during in the 4-year conflict.

Both officers were born in Safita town near the coastal city Tartus.

Syria's conflict, now in its fourth year, has killed at least 220,000 people, according to activists, and forced millions to flee the country.
