Syria: Regime barrel bomb attacks kill 40 in Aleppo

At least 40 people lost their lives Wednesday in four regime barrel bomb attacks on opposition-controlled areas in Aleppo province, activists said.

Local activists said 22 people were killed, including a number of women and children in Tal Rifaat town north of Aleppo while the second barrel bomb attack on Harbel village killed 4 people.

Also, 14 civilians were killed in an airstrike on Job al-Qubba neighborhood in rebel-held Aleppo city.

Scores of people were injured in both attacks as well as many buildings sustained severe damage.

The Local Coordination Committees of Syria are groups of local Syrian activists who oppose the Assad regime and publish news via social media websites.

Syria has been gripped by constant fighting since the Assad regime launched a violent crackdown in response to anti-government protests in March 2011, triggering a conflict that has killed more than 220,000. (With Anadolu Agency)
