At least 14 people killed in barrel bomb attack on rebel-held Aleppo

The Syrian air force on Thursday extended its intense aerial campaign against rebel-held areas in the northern province of Aleppo, conducting a series of airstrikes that killed at least 14 people, activists said.

Zaman al-Wasl reporter said at least 6 people, including women and 2 children, were killed in 2 barrel bomb attacks on Deir Jammal village in the northern countryside of Aleppo while a second barrel attack killed 8 people in Hayyan village, he added.

Also, Syrian regime air force has conducted more raids on Hraytan and Arateb towns amid reports of casualties.

For months, the regime has waged an unrelenting aerial campaign against the opposition-held areas making particular use of crude so-called barrel bombs.

Rights groups criticize the weapons as indiscriminate and say they are more likely to cause civilian casualties.

Syria's four-year-old war has killed more than 220,000 people and forced millions out of their homes.
