Islamic State fighters on Thursday have pressed more advances in the eastern
countryside of Homs, taking control of a military base and two villages
near T-4 air base, activists and supporters of the hardline group said.
Conflicting reports said ISIS stormed the fences of the strategic military airport, the clashes are underway with Syrian regime forces, activists said after seizing an artillery battalion affiliated to T-4 base.
ISIS took control of al-Bardeh and Marhatan villages, 15 km (10 miles) from the airport.
ISIS has also blown up a gas pipeline near Furqlus town east Homs, activists said.
Meanwhile, , State-run media mourned M. General Mohsen Makhlouf, the commander of the powerful 11th Division, who had been killed by ISIS in T-4 battles.
