Gunmen kill rebel commander in northern countryside of Aleppo

Unidentified gunmen have assassinated a Free Syrian Army commander in the northern countryside of Aleppo on Sunday, activists told Zaman al-Wasl.

Lieutenant Hussein Qentar, a former Syrian army officer who defected to join Syrian revolution, has been found dead near Anadan town.

Qentar, who is a member of Fatah Aleppo Command Room, was heading back to Anadan before being shot dead by gunmen who left his body on the wayside.

Separately, Alaa Jolo, 24-year-old, was killed on Saturday by Turkish border guards near Hour Killis village.

Jolo was trying with his wife and daughter to cross the border illegally, activists said.

More than 230,000 people killed and over 12 million forced to flee their homes since the Syrian revolution erupted in March 2011.
