 SNC Leader: Democratic transition can not be implemented with Assad presence 

''The Tyrant- Bashar al-Assad- should be ousted, thereupon, we have to reform all government institutions that suffer from corruption, bribes and deficit as well as to reconstruct the judicial authority,'' president of the first opposition group, Syrian National Council,George Sabra told Zaman Alwasl.

The veteran dissident stressed that the National coalition will be powerless unless the Syrian people will be released; the chains of Assad regime after that the democratic transition will be possible. 

 Sabra assured that the last word for the new Syria will be for the Syrians who will decide their destiny.

 In response to Zaman Alwasl question who will rule Syria, Coalition or the Islamic rebels as well as the Islamic group control on the ground, Sabra said:  I don' have fears from the Islamic battalions, I know that  many of it are moderate but let's now look forward A democratic Syria  where everyone have basic role in the post-Assad  period.

 Syria's conflict began in March 2011 largely as peaceful protests against Assad's rule. It escalated into a civil war after opposition supporters took up arms to fight a brutal government crackdown on dissent.

More than 200,000 people have been killed in the conflict, according to Syrian Human rights NGO's and 1.7 million Syrians have been forced to flee to neighboring countries, the United Nations says.
