Video: new batch of Ahrar Al Sham fighters finish training, ready to fight

A new batch of Ahrar al-Sham fighters have been graduated in Eastern Ghouta district near Damascus, according to a video posted online Friday by the moderate Sunni movement.

The video showed tens of Ahrar al-Sham fighters in their graduation ceremony in al-Shoumoukh training camps in the embattled Eastern Ghouta suburbs.

Ahrar al-Sham has attracted thousands of Syrian youth due to its good reputation, and being moderate and far from militancy.

Ahrar al-Sham is a coalition of multiple Islamist and Salafist units that coalesced into a single brigade in order to fight the Syrian till the topple of Bashar al-Assad.

On 9 September 2014, a bomb went off during a high level meeting in Idlib province, killing Hassan Abboud, the leader of the group, and 27 other senior commanders, including military field commanders, members of the group's Shura council, and leaders of allied brigades. There was no claim of responsibility for the attack. The day after the bombing Abu Jaber was announced as replacement leader.
