The Syrian Coalition expressed a great concern over Father Paolo Dall'Oglio's condition. Father Paolo who has disappeared in the city of Raqqa for weeks now. The coalition called on anyone who has information of his whereabouts to disclose them.
The statement of the Syrian Coalition continues,
saying, " in spite of what has been said, that Father Paolo was martyred
in Raqqa City, the news coming from there concerning him confirms he is alive.
But, we do not know where he is at the moment or under what conditions he has
disappeared."
The Syrian Coalition called on the Free Syrian
Army Brigades and the Local Council of Raqqa City, requesting to do that all
can be done in order to get Father Paolo safe and sound.
The coalition reiterated on the necessity of
committing to the principles of the revolution in protecting the civilians
including journalists and religious men, the importance of respecting beliefs,
sanctities, public freedom, human rights, human dignity, and respecting ideals
of religion, right, and humanity.
Father Paolo is an Italian priest who built the
Syriac Catholic Monastery of Saint Moses in 1980 in the north of Damascus.
Father Paolo was one of the very affective religious men calling for interfaith
dialogue and tolerance between religions. He is a supporter of the revolution
which is why he was forced to leave
Syria by the Syrian regime in June, 2013. On July, Father Paolo returned
to the Free North, to the city of Raqqa to continue his mission of interfaith
dialogue and he got abducted three weeks ago.
