Pro-Assad tribal commander killed in Deir Ezzor city: activists

One of Syrian regime's sincere tribal fighters has been killed in a land mine in Deir Ezzor city near the military airport, activists said on Wednesday.

Abdulbaset Hamdo, commander of al-Ashaer Army, or Army of the Tribes, was killed due to a land mine planted on his road near Deir Ezzor military airport.

Local activists celebrated the news on social media.

Hamdo was appeared once in YouTube video carrying two decapitated heads, purportedly for ISIS fighters.

Syrian tribes in their main stronghold in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor have showed patriotic resistance for both syrian army and hardline Islamic State.

Few number of tribes have joined Syrian forces in fight against civilians since the revolution erupted in March 2011.
