Two rebels killed in air strike on Daraya near Damascus

Two rebel fighters were killed and three wounded on Sunday in regime air strike on Daraya, a poor Sunni community on the south-west outskirts of the capital, activists said.

Rebels who announced 'Lahib Daraya' battle have made gains in the northern neighborhood of the town. In retaliation regime fighter jets have pounded rebels strongholds, using chlorine gas bombs and heavy artillery, media activist told Zaman al-Wasl.

Almost three years ago, on August 22, more than 200 bodies had been found in Daraya after Syrian troops had stormed the town ,in what Bashar al-Assad's regime described as a counter-terrorism operation.

The fresh clashes have ended a series of fragile truces in Daraya.

But the stricken people are looking for a long-term truce allowing them to survive starvation and severe siege imposed by Assad’s forces.

Truce tactic highly has been adopted by regime to keep neighboring suburbs calm despite rebels’ presence. Many truces reached in Masaken Barzeh, Qboun and Mouaddamiya.

More than 230,000 people have been killed since Syria's conflict began in March 2011.
