US, allies target ISIS with 26 airstrikes in Syria, Iraq The United States and its allies launched 26 airstrikes Tuesday against ISIS militants in Syria and Iraq, according to the Combined Joint Task Force leading the air operations.
In Iraq, 18 airstrikes targeted the militant group and its operations near eight cities, the task force said in a statement on Wednesday.
In Syria, eight airstrikes hit near Hasakah, Aleppo and Raqqa, hitting tactical units and fighting positions, among other targets, it said.
Abu al-Mazen, media activist based in Raqqa, told Zaman al-Wasl that ISIS fighters were concerned of an aerial landing by US-led coalition to kidnap senior commanders as it had done before in the de facto Islamic State's capital.
Separately, people had suffered power outage in Raqqa for three days due to severe rationing before the power supply returned on Wednesday. (With Reuters)
