A fierce fighting on Tuesday took place in the northern countryside of Aleppo city between rebels and Syrian regime forces backed by Shiite militias as rebels launch new battle to recapture towns they lost months ago, rebel spokesman said.
Colonel Mohamed al-Ahmed, Shamiya Front's spokesman, told Zaman al-Wasl that rebel factions operating under Fatah Aleppo's operations command have launched a new battle on regime army to recapture territory they lost early this year in northern countryside.
10 army soldiers were killed and two others were held captives, al-Ahmed added.
The spokesman said wining the ongoing battle will break the siege on Aleppo as well as rebels will avoid the blockade between two enemies (Assad) army and ISIS.
In relevant development, a U.S.-trained rebel group in northern province of Aleppo said regime air force had targeted its base with vacuum missile on Tuesday.
The Division 30, who followed a training by the United States this year and had been targeted by the Nusra Front last month, said Syrian forces rocked its stronghold in northern countryside of Aleppo.
The moderate rebel group said in statement dated on Tuesday there is a coordination between ISIS and regime army in targeting the Free Syrian Army units.
Also in the war-torn city, Ansar al-Sharia rebels blew up a 130-meter tunnel leads to regime army base in government-held neighborhood, what left 15 dead and dozens wounded.
