A Syrian army defector and prominent rebel commander was killed by two assailants in rebel-held town in northern countryside of Homs, activists said on Tuesday.
Col. Ahmed Kheshfah (dubbed: Abu Mulhem) was killed in Talbiseh town by two armed men claimed to be affiliated to the radical Islamic State group, local activists told Zaman la-Wasl.
Two prominent clerics in the town, Sheikh Akram Al Haj Issa and Sheikh Abdul Muhaymen Al Agha, were assassinated too by in the last 48 hours.
Meanwhile, Syrian regime air force carried out deadly missile attacks on the northern countryside of Homs, killing at least 32 people, 15 of them from Talbiseh.
