(Zaman Al Wasl)- Rebels took a military base in the western countryside of Hama province after heavy clashes with Syrian regime troops, field activist told Zaman Al Wasl Tuesday.
Rebels have seized Tal Othman base and the nearby village of al Janabra, activist Mustafa Abu Arab said. The strategic hill was regime's first defense line to secure loyal villages in al Ghab plain.
Activists have also reported fierce fighting near Morek town as aerial campaign extended air strikes on rebel-held villages of al Latamneh, Latmin and Lahaya.
In northern Syria, at least 12 civilians killed in Russian air strikes hit rebel-held neighborhoods of Bustan al Qasr and al Mashhad in Aleppo city, local reporter said Tuesday.
Russia's air force has flown 1,631 sorties and struck 2,084 militant targets since the start of its airstrikes campaign in Syria, Russian news agencies cited the defense ministry as saying Tuesday.
At least 200,000 people have been displaced since early October in Aleppo, Hama and Idlib, activists and monitoring groups said.
