Rebels kill top Assad army commander in northern Hama

 (Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime's media and activists have mourned on Sunday a top army commander said he had been killed in the ongoing clashes in the northern countryside of central Hama city.

Major General Taleb Salameh was the commander of Brigade 47 that active in Homa and Hama provinces.

Syrian rebels have pressed more advances northeast Hama, taking a serise of villages and strategic hills.

Rebel news feeds said more than 150 troopers were killed in the ongoing clashes.

Social media activists mocked Russian air strikes that have been failed to paralyze rebels advances despite nearly 40 days of bombing.

More than 250,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict began with anti-government protests in March 2011.
