As winter getting closer, Syrians still perplexed about the
possibility of securing diesel for winter, where there were promises to
distribute 400 liters to each family at the official price of 60 Syrian pounds,
but no confirmation of this news yet, beside the ambiguous mechanisms of
distribution.
Some well funded family began to buy and store diesel from the
black market at a price of 90 Syrian pounds for a liter. However, it is hard
for most Syrian families to afford that price, as they hardly can secure food
to their children, that mean most Syrians might spend cold winter, and do not
forget the displaced families which would suffer the most.
“Syrian regime used to keep most issue vague, and that applied
diesel as well, it has been stated that diesel is available in sufficient
quantity, but there was no indication the exact figure, the distribution
mechanisms and people who illegible to discount price.” An economic expert
stated.
The economist showed that Syrian Regime always tends to delay
processes and it lack of honesty in numbers and facts, as it is never tells the real amount of
diesel and does not confess that the priority distribution of diesel is for
army and the families of pro-regime forces. Besides the difficulties in delivery
diesel between provinces as it become very dangerous task and many trucks’
drivers reluctant to do it.
The Economist stated that last year the government disbursed half
the announced and promised amount of diesel which was 400 liters to each family
but only 200 liters were delivered in the beginning of winter, and no news
about the rest later on.
The economic experts expects
that Syrians would suffer severely this winter even more than last year
which was had been already very harsh.
