Army of Conquest declares general mobilization, calls on rebel groups to boost coordination

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Key rebel group, The Army of Conquest, declared Tuesday general mobilization, calling on all rebel factions to boost coordination to deter attacks of Syrian regime army and its Russian and Iranian allies.

Conquest Army, also known as Fatah Army, said all jihadi groups should fight under one task command as Russia-led assault on northern and western Syria gets harder and more brutal.

The dominant Islamist alliance that captured most of northern Idlib province last March urged rebels to join Fatah Army.

Russian air force in Syria, which consists of around 50 planes and helicopters with a further 37 aircraft, had carried out around 2,300 sorties in Syria in the last 48 days, Russian military chiefs told President Vladimir Putin according to Reuters.

In the ongoing battles in the southern countryside of Aleppo, rebel factions said they had killed Sabah al-Falih, one of the Iraqi Ansar Allah movement leaders, targeting his car by a U.S.-made anti-tanks missile, according to ElDorar AlShamia website.

Meanwhile, a Syrian cease-fire could be in place within weeks, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said Tuesday.

Speaking in an interview with U.S. news channel CNN, Kerry said a growing coalition including Russia and Iran “gives us an opportunity to perhaps get a ceasefire in place within the next three, four, five weeks.”

Since 2011, four million Syrians have fled abroad. Millions more have been internally displaced, while at least 250,000 have been killed.
