(Zaman Al Wasl)- Inmates of Homs Central Prison halted Tuesday Syrian police attempt to storm their dormitories to end a two-month strike, sources told Zaman Al Wasl.
Two detainees confirmed in separate phone calls with Zaman Al Wasl that the regime security backed by allied militia had tried to break in the prison late on Tuesday using tear gas after cutting off water and electricity supplies.
The main prison of central province of Homs has been over-packed by Bashar al-Assad's opponents as most of the inmates have no criminal record.
The inmates have appealed to Human rights advocates and organization to intervene to end their suffer.
Since 2011, four million Syrians have fled abroad. Millions more have been internally displaced, while at least 250,000 have been killed.
