(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least two civilians killed in a U.S.-led air strike on their car in northern Hasaka province, activists said Tuesday.

The victims were father and son driving a vehicle loaded with sheep.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Combined Joint Task Force leading the operations said nine strikes in Syria hit near four cities, destroying several ISIS fighting positions, vehicles and other targets.

In Iraq, 17 air strikes near six cities struck a 11 Islamic State tactical units as well as buildings, fighting positions and weapons caches, among other targets, the task force said.

Strikes of the International coalition have intensified bolstering the ground operations of Syrian Democratic Forces, an alliance of Kurdish and Arab forces fighting ISIS in northern Syria.

The Western-backed group has achieved 70% of its targets in nearly one month campaign, its spokesman Col. Talal Ali Sello told Zaman al Wasl days ago.

Col. Talal Ali Sello, in statement to Zaman Al Wasl, said his alliance is so close of taking full control of the southern countryside of Hasaka.

Sello said between an area of 1,500 square kilometres (600 square miles) was cleansed of ISIS" and more than 550 ISIS fighters were killed.

SDF spokesman said Monday in press conference that his alliance had driven ISIS out of nearly 200 villages.

The SDF was formed in mid-October as an alliance between the powerful Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) and rebel groups including Arab and Assyrian militias.

On Tuesday, ISIS has freed 10 Syrian Assyrians, including 5 women, were taken hostages with 205 more people in the western countryside of Hasaka in Feb.23 this year.

ISIS has released 98 people so far activists said.
