(Zaman Al Wasl)- Russia warplanes have renewed on Saturday its air strikes on aid vehicles in northern Syria near the Turkish border amid accusations by Damascus and Moscow claim it was carrying supplies to rebels.
One driver has been killed and four others have been wounded in al Dana town in Idlib province, civil defense worker told Anadolu agency. The air strikes hit 8 vehicles, he added.
The Syrian regime army said on Saturday that Turkey had recently increased supplies of weapons, ammunition and equipment to what it described as terrorists in Syria.
A statement issued by the army command alleged that weapons were being delivered in shipments which Turkey claimed to be humanitarian assistance, Reuters reported.
The Syrian government describes all the rebel groups fighting President Bashar al-Assad as terrorists.
On Wednesday, Russia's warplanes carried out two air strikes on an aid warehouse in Azaz town near Bab al Salameh border crossing with Turkey, leaving 3 people dead, according to Zaman Al Wasl reporter. Also on Thursday, air strikes hit aid vehicles in Sarmmada town in Idlib.
Activists say attacking the aid points and vehicle parks in Idlib and Aleppo is a Russian reprisal over shooting down its warplane on Tuesday.
Russia has intervened directly in the Syrian war on Sept. 30 with its own air campaign in support of al-Assad, whose forces are fighting insurgents backed by regional powers including Turkey.
