At least 53 people killed in Assad's air strikes on Eastern Ghouta suburbs

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 53 people killed on Friday in Syrian regime air strikes on the eastern suburbs of Damascus,  Syrian Civil Defense and monitoring group said

Activists and the monitoring group that tracks war in Syria said at least 53 people had been killed regime air air strikes on a marketplace in Kafr Batna town and the nearby town of Jisrin in the embattled Eastern Ghouta suburbs near the capital.

In central Syria, at least 11 people, including 4 women and 4 children, have been killed in Russian air strikes on the town of Talbiseh in Homs province, activists said Friday.

In northern Aleppo, Russia's air strikes renewed on the town of kafr Naseh in the northern countryside, killing 3 people since 25 people had been killed and dozens wounded the day before.

Moscow has stepped up air strikes on areas close to the Turkish border in its unstoppable-retaliation to the downed jet, activists said.

Russian air force in Syria, which consists of around 50 planes and helicopters with a further 37 aircraft, had carried out around 3000 sorties in Syria in the last 65 days, killing more than 1000 people.

Russia says it is targeting Islamic State militants with its bombing raids, but most of the attacks are directed at other militant groups that threaten its ally Bashar al-Assad.

Meanwhile, Reuters said the U.S.-led coalition had carried out 26 air strikes against Islamic State militants on Thursday, targeting oil production in Syria and supporting the Iraqi effort to retake the city of Ramadi, the military said in a statement on Friday.

Since it began in 2011, Syria's war has fractured into a complex array of fronts between Kurds, rebels, regime and jihadists, and has killed more than 250,000 peopleز
