(as)- The Spanish Football Federation’s Appeals Committee confirmed Real Madrid’s disqualification from the Copa del Rey on Thursday, witth the club being eliminated from the tournament last week by the RFEF’s Competition Committee for illegally fielding Denis Cheryshev.
The Appeals Board refused to listen to Real’s remonstrations and confirmed their disqualification from the 2015-16 Copa del Rey competition, as well as a €6,001 fine. Los Blancos will now take their case to the Court of Arbitration in Sport (TAD) to seek an injunction and in order for the Real Madrid-Cádiz game to go ahead. The club continues to sell tickets for the game at the Santiago Bernabéu on its website.
The Court of Arbitration in Sport are due to hold a meeting on Friday at 12:30pm to make a decision on the injunction, and should the case run over into Monday an emergency ruling will be made.
