Regime forces step up attacks on northern countryside of Homs, kill 11

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Rebel-held areas of the central province of Homs have been under fierce aerial and ground shelling for the sixth day, activists said Wednesday as 11 people have been killed in the recent 48 hours.

Early Wednesday, Syrian regime warplanes carried out four air strikes on al-Houla region, targeting the towns of Taldo and Western Tieba with 4 vacuum missiles, residents say.

Regime helicopters have also dropped 4 barrel bombs on al-Ghanto and Teir Mala towns, they added.

Local activists said 5 people were killed in al-Hola town, and 5 more people were killed in al-Rastan, and one civilian lost his life in al-Ghanto in the northern countryside of Homs.

Near the Syrian capital, 10 people were killed in sarin gas attack on were killed late on Tuesday in a sarin gas attack on the besieged Moadamiyet al-Sham town, activists said.

The town's main hospital said 10 people were killed including a 12-year-old boy due to targeting their neighborhood with two missile loaded by deadly sarin gas.

Also, east of Damascus,  at least 30 civilians have been killed and dozens wounded in Russia's vacuum missile attacks on Bezzina village in the besieged Ghouta suburbs. the Revolution Local Committees said Tuesday.

Amnesty International said on Wednesday that Russia's bombing of Syria may amount to a war crime because of the number of civilians its strikes have killed.

"Russian air strikes in Syria have killed hundreds of civilians and caused massive destruction in residential areas, striking homes, a mosque and a busy market, as well as medical facilities, in...attacks that show evidence of violations of international humanitarian law," Amnesty said in a new report.
 
More than 250,000 people have been killed since Syria’s revolution erupted in March 2011, and millions more have fled their homes.
